Real stories from individuals and families we've supported

What people are saying

Rose and Butch Gleeson
"The team at Ikigai Community Care is nothing short of amazing. Every staff member is warm, caring, and genuinely committed to supporting individuals in a way that’s both respectful and empowering. Their dedication to helping participants live their best lives shines through in everything they do. We’re so lucky to have such a compassionate and values-driven service right here in our local community."
Elaine and Bert Fiddelears
"Ikigai has supported our sons since its inception in 2023, and we couldn’t be happier. As a family, we truly value the open communication, the high standard of care, and the way Ikigai consistently upholds NDIS protocols. The support staff are exceptional — they engage with our sons respectfully and enthusiastically, participating in the activities they choose and supporting them to explore new experiences out in the wider community. It’s reassuring to know they are in such caring and capable hands."
Debi, Steve and Erin Glasson
"Leanne and her team at Ikigai Care are truly wonderful. Ikigai has become such a meaningful part of our daughter’s life, thanks to the caring, committed, and supportive staff who go above and beyond. They’ve created a warm, welcoming, and inclusive community where she feels valued, connected, and genuinely at home."
Julie and Brendan Morgan
"Our family has been with Ikigai since the very beginning, and the support has been nothing short of life-changing. After COVID, our son had spent over three years isolated in his home, with a combination of life barriers that made it difficult for him to engage socially or participate in everyday activities. Leanne and staff spent months meeting him where he was gently, consistently, and with deep understanding helping him build the confidence to express who he truly is. Today, he is thriving: socially active, connected, and living a life filled with purpose and joy. Leanne also guided us through the NDIS, helping us understand the system and connecting us with allied health professionals, support coordinators, and OTs. Without Ikigai, we truly don’t know where we’d be today."

Questions we get a lot

What makes Ikigai Community Care different from other NDIS providers?

We know you’ve probably heard the same promises over and over; personalised care, client-first, ticking boxes that don’t mean much in real life. At Ikigai Community Care, we do things differently.

Our name isn’t just branding, it’s our way of working. Ikigai is the Japanese word for your reason for being, and that’s the heart of everything we do. We take the time to understand what that means for you, then shape your support around it. It’s not just about what’s written in your plan, it’s about what actually feels right in your day-to-day life.

You’ll never be just a number with us. You’ll be supported by real people who genuinely want to see you feel safe, seen and supported.

Ikigai (pronounced ee-kee-guy) is a beautiful Japanese concept that means your reason for being; what gets you out of bed in the morning, and what gives your life meaning. It could be something big, like a goal or passion, or something small and steady, like being around people who make you feel at ease.

For us, disability support is about helping you discover and hold onto your own version of ikigai. That might look different for everyone — more independence, more connection, more joy in the little things. We don’t push people into a set program or assume what’s best. We listen, learn and support you in a way that feels true to who you are.

That’s completely okay. A lot of people feel unsure at the beginning. Starting with disability support doesn’t mean you need to have everything figured out. We’ll sit down with you, have a real conversation, and get a sense of what your day looks like, what’s working and what’s not.

From there, we’ll talk through your options and shape support around what feels right for you. There’s no pressure and no rush. Whether you already have a plan or are just starting out, we’ll meet you where you’re at and go from there. You’ll be involved in the whole process and nothing is locked in unless it actually suits you. Contact Ikigai Community Care and we’ll guide you through it in a way that feels simple and supportive.

As involved as you want them to be. We know that for many people, family or carers play a big part in their life, and their insight can be really valuable. If you’d like them to be part of the conversation, planning or day-to-day coordination, we’ll make sure they’re included in a way that works for everyone.

At the same time, we respect your privacy and your choices. You’re in control of who’s involved and how. We keep communication clear, open and respectful so that everyone feels heard. Whether your support network is big or small, we work with you to create a setup that feels supportive without being overwhelming.

You’re not alone. We’ve heard from many people who have felt overlooked, rushed or let down by support that didn’t feel right. That’s exactly why Ikigai Community Care was started. We do things differently by slowing things down, listening properly and building real trust.

We don’t jump to assumptions or force you into fixed routines. We take time to understand what makes you feel comfortable, respected and in control. Our approach to disability support is centred around your goals, your pace and your version of a good life. If you’ve been let down before, we’re here to show you that support can feel better. It can feel like it’s actually meant for you.
